Association ‘Mākslas platforma’ was founded on 11 February 2015 to facilitate providing beneficial conditions for the development of contemporary visual arts and other areas of culture in Latvia, encouraging the processes of cultural life in Latvian society.

    As part of this objective, the association aims to study and evaluate the processes of contemporary art and culture and promote an exchange of information, placing the current Latvian cultural affairs in the European and global context.

    To achieve its goals, the association mounts priority activities like exhibitions, contests, festivals, educational events, issues publications, supports information exchange platforms (websites, publication series, etc.), helps connect artists with patrons and attract sponsors for projects of contemporary art and culture.

    The founding members of the association are Arturs Jakovļevs, Una Meistere and Ģirts Muižnieks.


    An art and culture website is the most significant project of the association.

    WHAT IS ARTERRITORY.COM? is an art and culture website in Latvian, Russian, and English, which focuses on Baltic, Scandinavian, and Russian art and its manifestations elsewhere in the world. was founded in 2011.

    ARTERRITORY.COM AIMS aims to serve as a platform for publicizing current art news and informing about the latest developments in the art world, educating the widest possible circle of art enthusiasts, stimulating exchange of views and promoting public debate not only locally in Latvia but also in the region as a whole, popularising the processes of art and culture, striving to reach the widest public possible.


    The target audience of the portal is everybody who is interested in the phenomena of contemporary cultural life – both art professionals and people who enjoy and appreciate art. The portal works purposefully to reach the target audiences in each of the languages, developing its content to meet the specific interests of each territory instead of duplicating it automatically.
